Biography

Rivers' passion for football goes as far back as he can remember. He was always fascinated with the level of dedication, passion, and cooperation that the sport requires to be great. Playing from little league all the way to his walk-on tryout during college he had envisioned himself being a part of football as a player. Once Rivers realized that he didn't have the required athleticism to play at the collegiate level, he began to consider his options elsewhere to join the league ranks. After a couple of years of self-reflecting on his love for the game, he realized that he was most enamored by the art of team building, and his dream to become an NFL General Manager was born. Knowing that to reach his goal he began taking classes with Sports Management Worldwide to further his understanding of the game.

Work/Education

Rivers graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2018 with two degrees, one in Finance and the other in Business Management. He is currently working for a wealth management firm in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. He is in the process of finishing the Football GM and Scouting course and the Ourlads Football Apprenticeship through Sports Management Worldwide.

Football Experience

This past summer, Rivers had the opportunity to volunteer for the Washington Redskins as a Training Camp Ambassador in the afternoon while using his mornings to scout the team to gain live experience in scouting.

Through his time in the Football GM and Scouting course he has written several “Pro Scouting Reports” as learned more about the football front office, and gained a variety of skills, such as NFL scouting techniques, NFL general manager practices, basic video editing and Coaches Office, statistical analysis, and NFL collective bargaining agreement.

His mentors included Mark Dominik, former General Manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, John Wooten, NFL legend known as "The Godfather" and former Player Personnel Director, and Russ Lande, founder of GM Jr. Scouting, and former Rams Scouting Administrator.
